Property Crimes
Like any other criminal charge or offense, Property crimes can range from a Summary offense to a Felony offense.
In most instances involving theft, the grading of the crime will depend on the value of the object that has been stolen or destroyed. Consequences of a property crime conviction may last for many years.
You could have trouble applying for a job, or you could spend years in prison.
Property crimes include, but are not limited to:
- Receiving Stolen Property
- Gaining property that has been obtained through a knowing theft and converting or holding it for your use or the use of someone else
- Burglary
- Unlawfully entering into either a vehicle or a building with intent to steal valuable property once within
- There are several variations of burglary and grades depending upon whether the structure was or was not adapted for overnight use and whether an individual was home at the time
- Theft
- Theft normally involves the taking of another’s property normally of an individual or of a store, without his or her consent
- Trespassing
- Entering onto the property of another without their permission or consent and remaining there
- Arson
- Generally arson occurs when a person purposely sets a home or building on fire that he should reasonably expect to be occupied
Property crimes often come about as a result of young people having fun that simply went too far or an individual doing what they believe is the best they can to support themselves and their family.
Property crimes also tend to go hand in hand with an individual that is battling a drug or alcohol problem and is unable to control the disease.
The law takes a strong stance against this type of behavior, however, and the consequences can be quite serious.
No matter the cause of the offense we have numerous ways to fight or reduce the charges you are facing. We can look to negotiate the charges down to a lesser offense or have them withdrawn, especially when a deal can be reached that involves restitution - paying the victim back over a period of time. We have the experience in dealing with these matters to be sure that you are provided the best possible opportunity to be sure that this mistake does not follow you for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
